April 2025 Club meeting
Scribbling club Poetry month meeting
We’ll see you on Wednesday, April 2nd, for an evening of camaraderie and craft celebrating Poetry Month!
This date happens to coincide with the evening celebration of life for Joyce Whitney, a long time member of the Club and volunteer cohort at the Molly Brown House Museum.
True to form, Joyce’s has influenced the plan for the evening in the most delightful way.
Embodied Poetry Costume Contest
To celebrate Joyce’s appreciation for an on-theme costume, this meeting features a contest that's all about embodying poetry.
If the Embodied Poetry Costume Contest sounds interesting and fun to you, you have two options for participation:
1. Become a poem
Dress in a way that visually represents a favorite poem. Maybe swirling blues and silvers for The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, earthy tones and florals for Leaves of Grass, or something fragmented and avant-garde for a modernist piece.
2. Step out of the stanzas
Come as a character, object, or image from a poem. The moon from Lorca’s Romance de la Luna, Luna, a raven from Poe, a red wheelbarrow, or something from Goblin Market.
How the contest works
Pick one of the two categories and give it your all! Meeting attendees will get the chance to see you strut your stuff during the mini runway event bridging the social and sharing hours.
Then, folks will vote and we'll announce the winners of both categories!
The plan for the evening
Social/writing hour 5:30-6:15
Socialize and check in with your fellow Scribblers/sit down with a project or one of the provided writing prompts.
Runway event, break 6:15-6:30
Embodied Poetry Costume Contest competitors will strut their stuff on our mini runway and meeting attendees will select a winner by voting.
Sharing hour 6:30-7:30
Scribblers who signed up during check in have up to five minutes to share progress for celebration, work for appreciation, or a struggle for support.

To keep things running as smoothly as possible, please let Kaitlynn know if you'll be there by March 31st.
