Sign up, meeting format

The Scribbling Club has a few options for membership participation. Our mission is uplifting Denver writers through camaraderie and craft. The cool thing about camaraderie? It’s flexible, accommodating, and built on mutual trust and communication. That’s why I ask our members for feedback, and why the Scribbling club membership perks have expanded.

Signing up for The Scribbling Club

Any Denver writer is welcome to sign up for the Club! There’s a few questions to answer and once you’re in, you’ll receive:

  • Invitations to members-only events, including the monthly club meetings.

  • Opportunities to be featured at one of the club’s seasonal events.

  • Bulletin Board access so you can stay in-the-loop.

This is all sent to you via email so you may participate in-person as it serves you and your writing journey best. There’s no fee to sign up for the Club, and currently no annual membership fee. That’s because the club is a collective effort, and effort can manifest itself differently throughout the ebbs and flows of life. That’s where the Scribbler contribution list comes in.

The Scribbler contribution list

You won’t be charged to be a part of the club, because I don’t want a monetary barrier keeping someone from becoming a Scribbler. As a Scribbler, you’ll get those cool perks above, and in the spirit of collaboration, I’ll ask that you contribute to the meeting’s good vibes by selecting whatever works best for you that month from the Scribbler contribution list:

  • A monetary contribution to help Kaitlynn cover the DWPC’s hosting fees.

  • An energy contribution to help Kaitlynn with set up and/or tear down.

  • A snack contribution to help Kaitlynn put noms on the Scribbler’s plates.

And if have other ways you’d like to contribute, you can toss that into the space for “something else” within the RSVP form for the month.

Day, time, location, agenda for Scribbling Club meetings

Meetings continue to occur the first Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:30 at the Denver Woman’s Press Club (DWPC) at 1325 Logan Street in Denver. When you arrive, you’ll check in with me at the door, then you have about an hour to get settled, sign up to share (if you’d like), do some writing (writing prompts provided—bringing headphones is recommended!), and catch up with fellow Scribblers.

Around 6:30, we’ll transition into the sharing portion. Those who choose to participate are asked to specify their sharing type during sign up:

  • Writing progress for celebration

  • Some original work for appreciation

  • A current challenge for support

And each person signed up has up to five minutes to do said sharing. It’s worth noting:

  • The DWPC offers free parking in the lot adjacent.

  • Invites to club meetings are sent via email, please plan to RSVP by the Sunday preceding the meeting.

  • If you select an energy contribution, please plan to help with set up 5:00-5:30 and/or tear down 7:30-8:00.

The plan for the social and sharing hour

The first hour (5:30-6:30) is devoted to getting settled, checking in with your fellow Scribblers, the activity aligned with the meeting’s theme, and heading into the gallery for some writing (work on something of yours or use one of the prompts provided). Make sure to check each meeting’s calendar page for the full plan each time!

The second hour (6:30-7:30) is time for you to grab the proverbial mic for up to five minutes for sharing one two things:

  1. Progress on your writing journey that you’d like to celebrate with the group

(i.e. “I set out to write for a half hour per day and actually did it!”)

  2. Some original work that fits the evening’s vibe

Then we’ll wrap up and pack up!

What’s next?

Check out the calendar in the nav to find out more about the next social hour!
